I am working on this issue tonight. I have a copy of an article, Events at Prospect Bluff on the Apalachicola River, 1808-1818 with an introduction to Twelve Letters of Edmund Doyle, Trader, by Mark F. Boyd, FHQ, Vol. XVI, Issue 2, pp. 55 – 96, October 1937. However, I am trying to obtain a copy of the frontspiece map by Captain Daniel Burch of the general route of his road through the region and also shows the route of Jackson in the First Seminole War. Do you have a copy you could send me.
Thanks! Also, have you ever seen a copy of the “Record of the case of Colin Mitchel v. US?”

Jim Tiger is a Marion County Oregon lawyer who has done some incredible research on the Creek Indians. It makes sense since Jim is descended from the Tiger family of Creek chiefs from Oklahoma and also the Kinnard family who founded Albany, Georgia and had plantations on the Wakulla River during the Spanish regime in Florida.
He has really done Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama a favor by compiling an Identification of Indian Claims Commisssion Exhibits Cited In The Creek Indians and Their Florida Lands, 1740- 1823, by Guild Wood's Dr. James F. Doster.

On May 25, 1804, one year to the day after they decided to seize that Prince of Plunder, the disgraceful freebooter, William Augustus Bowles, and turn him over to the Spanish, the Creek Indians met at Chiskatalofa near the point where the present-day states of Alabama, Georgia and Florida intersect and agreed to the terms to probably the greatest real estate deal in American History. By agreeing to extinguish their title to over 1.2 million acres along the banks of the Apalachicola River to cancel a $66,533.05 debt, these 22 chiefs ,who signed what is known today as the Forbes Purchase, sold their land for about a nickel an acre at an Indian conference held in present-day Houston County, Alabama, 201 years ago next month.
It can also be shown that the unfortunate man who closed this deal to collect his company's debt, James Innerarity of Mobile, paid a handsome price ten years later when the British Navy, out of vengence toward their fellow countryman Innerarity, decided to build their Negro Fort on Prospect Bluff near the unprofitable store the Mobilian was forced to open in 1804 under the terms of the Forbes Purchase which was signed 201 years ago May 25 at Chiskatalofa, an Indian village located in the extreme southeastern corner of present-day Houston County, Alabama.I have posted information concerning the Forbes Purchase at my weblog, "Cuba, Alabama." http://www.robertoreg.blogspot.com

So much information coming in on The Panama City Beach Summer of '65 Beach Guide. Some have suggested that it was our SUMMER OF LOVE preceding San Francisco's by two years, however, I disagree. Maybe it wasn't our "Summer of Love" but our summer of st*** fi****!
Lots of the stuff sent in is "post '65", however, a couple of things have stirred my recollections. Petticoat Junction had a fast food place right in front of it called The Chicken Box or The Chicken Basket. Man, that was the only late night place on the beach for food. Mo' latuh.
others: Dixie Hot Shop, Henry Klinger & Klinger Cottages, The Beacon Court, Porter's Court, Goofy Golf [wid dah two story monkey, Sphinx & T. Rex] Deer Ranch, The Chateau[i don't know nobody who wants to talk about The Chateau], Fontainbleau Terrace and The Pink Clam Gift Shop.
I have tried to stay on the beach but somebody brought up the Cove Motel in St. Andrews. There are a few Bobby Goldsboro stories there.

And, of course, Robert Register got caught for jogging naked in Miami on Thursday. No big deal. NOT THE FIRST TIME I WAS A VICTIM OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY!
When I went into Southeast Alabama Medical Center to have my tail cut off, I had to recover on my belly. I noticed large numbers of black people coming into my room and leaving suddenly. Eventually, a black nurse came in and I asked her why so many black folks were coming into my room. She laughed and said, " Oh, one of our black employees is named Robert Register and when everybody saw your name on the patient manifest, they came by to see Robert."

Oh, I loved that. I burrowed down into my pillows and pulled the covers over the back of my head because I was recovering on my belly since my tail had been cut off. Pretty soon a group of blacks came into the room and at the right moment I jumped up and yelled,"Oh! I don't know what happened! All I knows is I bleached out!!!!!!!!"
I did that routine a few more times that day. Lots of big eyes and laughs.

I recently came across your site on the net and truly enjoy it!!
I am new to the blogging thing....but I came across your email address
on the site.
The recent Jimi Hendrix info is great. I live just outside of Greensboro,NC.and was
very lucky enough to see Hendrix open for The Monkees in the summer of 1967
in Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum....when I was only 14 years old.
Of course,I went to the see The Monkees....but I came away that evening a
changed young man! I had never heard of Hendrix before that wonderful evening,but
believe me.....I knew I had seen someone very special after that. After The Jimi
Hendrix Experience played....The Monkees were a total bore. At least that is how I felt,
because some of the young teenyboppers in the audience actually booed Hendrix after
his performance. But I was very excited about this new sound....and it changed my life
forever. I went to a Thalhiemers Dept store in Greensboro and bought the "Are You
Experienced" LP a few weeks later....in fact....just after the album was released.
Anyhow....I went on the become a true hip[at least in my humble opinion] and kool
southern rocker for many years.....but now at age 52 I have mellowed quite a bit as
many of us have done....and thank God for satellite radio!!!!

Nude Coconut Creek jogger arrested

For the past year, Robert Register has jogged through Coconut Creek apartment complexes wearing nothing but a pair of white sneakers with a reflective Nike logo.

On Thursday, shortly after 5 a.m., someone spotted the bare runner and called police.

Officer Michael Dunsavage pulled into Coral Tree Circle and saw Register jogging westbound.

When Dunsavage tried to stop Register, the nudist jumped into the bushes at the intersection of Northwest 42 Avenue and Coral Tree Circle, according to police.

Dunsavage called for additional officers to come out to the area to help restrain the unattired man.

In his report, Dunsavage wrote he could see the man hiding behind a big tree. The officer saw Register putting on a pair of blue running shorts and watched as Register jumped out of the brush and jogged eastbound on Coral Tree Circle.

Register's attempt to cover up did not deter police from arresting him for indecent exposure.

The 56-year-old sprinter told police he has been running in the buff every morning between Tuesdays and Fridays for the past year.

Register told police that he is a nudist and ``that's the way I like to run.''

Police said they never received any complaints or calls about the naked runner until Thursday.

''We've never had a jogger running around nude, that I know of, before this incident,'' said Coconut Creek spokeswoman Judie Banks. ``When I heard about it I had to wonder if there is some kind of holistic advantage to running in the nude. I would think it might be a little uncomfortable.''

Woodstock Music and Art Festival brought people from all walks of life to one place to enjoy “three days of peace and music.” Woodstock might have not changed the world as a whole but it surely changed a lot people’s worlds. It opened their minds to a new way of life, new forms of music and a new outlook on the world.

Woodstock was the wonderful idea of four young and unique guys: John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfeld and Michael Lang. They didn’t know it yet but their idea was going to be in the history books. The young men came together to become Woodstock Ventures Inc. in 1969.www.woodstock69.com

John Roberts was heir to a drugstore and a toothpaste manufacturer’s fortune.www.woodstock69.com He had only attended one rock concert in his life which was the Beach Boys. The vice-president of Capitol Records, Artie Kornfeld, had written over thirty hit songs and knew many of the rockers.www.woodstock69.com He was twenty five years old. www.woodstock69.com Michael Lang was twenty three years old and owned one of the first head shops in Florida. Their lawyer told them to talk to Roberts and Rosenman. Woodstock Music and Art Festival was to be on August 15 through 17 in 1969. The fans had a good time even though the weather was bad. Woodstock had a large turnout of four hundred thousand people. Woodstock was the largest music festival ever at that time.<”Woodstock Festival”, 1997 ed> The festival closed the New York State Thruway. This was one of the nation’s worst traffic jams ever.<”Woodstock Festival”, 1997 ed> Woodstock was peaceful even though the weather conditions could have led to a large disaster. The weather was terrible. Bad rains drenched the crowds and the heat was bad too. Food and water grew scarce but they didn’t run out.<”Woodstock Festival” 1997 ed> The police avoided confrontations with the fans by not enforcing drug laws so the crowds stayed under control.<”Woodstock Festival”, 1997 ed>

Diverse strands of people came to Woodstock including students, hippies, Vietnam vets and opponents of the Vietnam War. Most people that went explored sex, drugs and nudity.<”Woodstock Festival”, 1997 ed> Fans recalled it in a sense of awe at the fellowship they experienced.

Lots of Americans saw Woodstock with disgust.

The festival was filmed, and a few years later, made into a movie.<”Woodstock Festival”, 1997 ed>

Tom Law was a participant at Woodstock. He said, “The event was so much bigger than the music. It was a phenomenon. And it was also the most peaceful civilized gathering that was probably happening on the planet at that time.” <”Woodstock”, page 888>

Ken Babbs was also there working in the medical tent. This is one of his accounts of Woodstock, “There were a hundred and fifty thousand people already in the place before the ticket takers arrived and the boss lady said everyone had to go out and present a ticket before they could come back in. The head security guy, an ex-Marine and the police chief of Santa Monica, California, looked at me and said,’What we gonna do?’ I said, ‘Make it a free concert.’ He went into the security trailer, called the organizers over at the stage and told them what was going on and what he thought should be done. He came back outside and said,’It’s a free concert.’ I told the head lady, she huffed and turned around and led the ticket takers away. The people standing around heard what was going on and promptly smashed down the chain link fence and rolled it up and made a nice big entrance for people to go in and out as they pleased.” www.skypilotclub.com

Tom and Ken both had good stories of Woodstock. Thanks to Ken the promoters didn’t make any money. A few years later the Woodstock movie was released along with a three record soundtrack. This made up for some of the loss.

Woodstock Music Festival was one of the most famous outdoor rock festivals ever.<”Woodstock Festival”, 1997ed.> Woodstock helped the music become popular and a bigger business than ever. It took lots of hours of planning but it was well worth it for everyone. Everyone that was there walked out a different person. People are not exactly sure what was changed by Woodstock but it changed something.
