Here are the origins of Wesley Chapel Cemetery where my great grandparents, Gillespie & Dora Kelly Register, are buried. Found this on the Alberson Family Genealogy Forum:

From "Diary of a Circuit Riding Methodist Preacher" page 72 that was located at the Newton Historical Society Museum in Newton, Dale Co., AL (I don't have the author's name)

"Indians slipped in on Mrs. Rachel Alberson and her sister at their home in the lower edge of Geneva County. Bill Alberson was gone from home. When her returned he first stripped and put his horse in the lot and then went to the house. On entering he was horrified to find both still in death and lying side by side. Scalped and their bodies mutilated. Alberson got up men quick as possible and gave pursuit. At night they saw a light near the swamp surrounded it and made a rush but found no Indians there. They got leggins and a butcher knife. They hunted nearly a week but made no further discovery. An Indian squaw was captured and placed in jail at Dale Co. Alberson slipped up and shot her."

My branch of the Register family is often called "The Lost Tribe" by genealogists because nobody knows which Revolutionary War era ancestor we are descended from. What we know is that we originated in the Cheraw District/Darlington S.C. area, migrated to Washington County, GA. after the War of 1812, drifted on down to the Tifton, Georgia area for a few years and by the 1850s settled in Geneva, Alabama. Here's a link to a good map that shows the distribution of families with the surname REGISTER in the U.S. in 1920.

BREWER, Keith Wayne, 64, died Friday, March 4, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard S Brewer, and his brother, Patrick H. Brewer. He is survived by his mother, Jeanette S. Brewer, his brothers, Danny H Brewer ( Mary Beth), David L. Brewer(Merrily), and nieces and nephews, Clark Brewer( Samantha), David Brewer, Ted Brewer(Emily ), Harrison Brewer and Chandler Brewer. Keith had a love for music, and was a member of a local group, The Rockin’ Gibraltars. He performed in various bands over the years, and recorded music with different artists. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Monroe, Bobby Dupree, Ed Sanford, Tommy Wilson, Tim Jackson and David Cobb. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Grier, Rusty Crumpton, Steve Shieferstein, Bill Ferguson and Ricky Parsons. Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 5:00- 7:00 at Leak Memory Chapel. Looks like I'm going to miss funeral services in Montgomery tomorrow for my friend, Keith Brewer, bass player for THE ROCKIN' GIBRALTARS. Keith signed my copy of the HEEEY BABY DAYS OF BEACH MUSIC @ a Christmas dinner THE ROCKIN' GIBRALTARS had in Montgomery in Dec. of '06. Kim Payne of the Allman Brothers Band & myself were the only guys outside the band who were invited. I'll always appreciate that invitation & the opportunity to eat, drink & celebrate with some of the greatest heroes of my teenage years in Dothan.Keith also contributed to some stories on my blog, ZERO, NORTHWEST FLORIDA. Keith's autograph reads, "Keith Brewer, Best wishes, THE BEACH FOREVER!"

Tomorrow afternoon @ 2,the family & friends of Keith Brewer will gather for his funeral services @ Leak Funeral Home in Montgomery. I'll never forget being able to see Keith perform with THE ROCKIN' GIBRALTARS @ The Alcazar Temple back in '07 for the Robert E. Lee High School Class of '67 40th Reunion.
