This is some old southern-rockers that were together again after some 38 years. We met for a show case at S. I. R. in Nashville TN Feb. 1 & 2, 2005.

Thanks Robert for what you have put together, it is awesome!

I was glad to be there and get that good feeling again.

Rodger you are one of a kind that still has that "star touch".

Dean it was a pleasure to be a guest at your home and spend quality time with you.

Thanks again, and I know that Roy Orbison would be proud of us.

The person who would know anything about anything to do with the Allman Joys would be Bill Connell, the drummer after Maynard. His email addy is rollingmotion@comcast.net. I'd like to see the photos as well. As I remember Mike Alexander was considered to play with the Brothers but his untimely demise in a small plane crash (flying drugs in from South America) nixed that one. Wyker was around Duane a lot and knows a lot of the skinny on all that. When I first met those guys was the summer of '65. They were the Allman Joys, playing with fake IDs in a place called The Stork Club in Mobile. The band then was Gregg on Vox Organ and some rhythm Guitar. Maynard on Drums and Bob Keller on Bass. They killed us playin Yardbirds songs and when Keller did his Mick Jagger impersonation....It was Mick Jagger. They basically stole my band's drummer Bill Connell. I got a lot of history with those guys and I can't wait to read Randy Poe's book on Duane. Anyway, love to see the photos you're talking about

SKYNYRD, A.R.S., MOSE JONES, .38 SPECIAL, AND ALL OF US HEATHERNS HUNG OUT AND JAMMED EVERYNITE WITH THE SHORTY AND PAM WATKINS BAND TIL' DAYLITE OR WE PASSED OUT. OUR GREAT HOST WAS A GUY NAMED CHUCK RENALDO WHO SHOWED UP EVERY WHERE WE PLAYED IN THE WORLD, INCLUDING KNEBWORTH, ENGLAND IN FRONT OF 205,000 ROCKIN' ASS LIMEYS! I happened to find your Blog as I was researching bands. I noticed the Allman Joys Poster and then scrolled down and was stunned and thrilled to find the picture of Maynard Portwood with Duane, Greg and Bob, autographed by Maynard to David, Keep the Faith. The reason for my surprise is that I used to work at Southern Bell with Maynard in the Chamblee/Atlanta, GA area, at the old John Deere Building on Peachtree Industrial Blvd. Maynard and I became good friends and even jammed together a few times. He told me about being the drummer for the Allman Joys and soon brought me a picture of them and autographed it to me and put on it “Keep the Faith” as his little joke because I am married to Faith.

I lost a box of my personal belongings when they moved us out of that building. In that box was a Navy Cruise Book, some pictures and other things, and, I believe, that autographed picture from Maynard. I am pretty sure that autographed picture is the one shown on your Cuba, Alabama Blog (http://robertoreg.blogspot.com/). I would appreciate it if you would reply back to me when you get this and let me know about that picture.
