Jimmy & Larry,
I've agreed to buy $600 worth of T shirts with this Chuck Bryan image on the front from William Alford, a.k.a. IGOR, late Sixties soundman extraordinaire in Tuscaloosa, originally from Samson.
Hey Igor, I'm in for $600 worth of T shirts with this image on the front & give me numbers on the same $600 batch with some kind of one color New Year's image on the back. PLEASE give me the best number & the right sizes.
Muchas, mi amigo!
So Jimmy & Larry, would you be interested in putting your New Year's Eve Show's mark on the back of my ST. ANDREWS BAY t shirt?
best,

I also worked security @ The Ballroom during that period but missed that particular 'dustup'. There were 3 of us....Sherman, 'Griff', and myself who comprised the security team. Now, I WAS working the night we ejected Dickey Betts by tossing him down the back stairs. Here's the story: Stu Daye was performing a 'showcase' and an incredibly inebriated Betts talked his way onto the stage to 'jam'. What he did was to attempt to hijack the set. Daye was a fan and was embarrassed, but his management (and club mngmnt) instructed us to remove Betts after he had ignored multiple requests to exit. Sherman and I had to manhandle him to get him off the stage, and he just wouldn't give it up all the way out the back door. His last (ill advised) act was to attempt to kick Sherman at which time we decided to allow 'Mean Old Mr. Gravity" to assist in the ejection. Mr Betts 'fell' down the stairs. Mr Betts was an ass and roundly deserved his treatment.
The great Tuscaloosa photographer,JOHN EARL,is learning to use some of these computer programs to enhance his old images. Here's STING performing in the BAMA during the POLICE'S first American tour.

Oooooooooooooooh!
Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch
You know that I love you
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else
In and out my life(in and out my life)
You come and you go(you come and you go)
Leaving just your picture behind....(ooh)
And I've kissed it a thousand times(ooh)
When you snap your finger, or wink you eye,
I come a-running to you
I'm tied to your apron strings,
And there's nothing that I can do
I can't help myself,
No, I can't help myself,
'Cause, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
I'm weaker than a man should be
I can't help myself
I'm a fool in love 'ya see
Wanna tell you I don't love you,
Tell you that we're through
And I try....
But ev'ry time I see your face,
I get all choked up inside
[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/sugar-pie-honey-bunch-lyrics-temptations.html ]
When I call your name,
Girl, it starts to flame
Burning in my heart,
Tearing it all apart..
No matter how I try
My love I cannot hide....
'Cause Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
You know that I'm waiting for you(waiting for you)
I can't help myself
I love you and nobody else
Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
I'd do anything you ask me to(ask me to)
I can't help myself
I want you and nobody else
Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch
You know that I love you(I dooo)
I can't help myself...
No... I can't help myself
Hey y'all~
The new Alabama Music Edition of OXFORD AMERICAN is on the news stands. I thought they had a great write up for The K-pers & Cut 4 on the CD that comes with the magazine is "Red Invasion" (1968).
I'd love to hear somebody else's opinion.
They've opened a big Alabama music section on their website.http://www.oxfordamerican.

NATHAN GLICK
Esther & Nathan Glick
Nathan Glick told us on the evening of Oct. 30, 1938 he was in Lee's Grill @ 12 Commerce St. in Montgomery when WAR OF THE WORLDS came on the radio.
Owned & operated back in the Thirties by my boss' Daddy, Lee Pake,Sr.
Nathan could tell it was a spoof but he said the bartender made LAST CALL & said "he had to get home to his wife & children."
Nathan immortalized Miss Hamlin killing her husband LIVE! ON STAGE! IN MOBILE

THE BAMA MAMMOTHS (Archie, Lee, Mark, Robertoreg) spent the morning in Mountain Brook enjoying the company of Nathan Glick and his lovely wife, the former Esther Weil of Demopolis. While we listened to Nathan describe the details of his amazing life, he signed 29 reproductions of his drawings for me. He'll be 99 in June & he is sharp as a tack and his signature hasn't changed in over 70 years. All of us will always treasure this opportunity to spend time with one of ALABAMA'S GREATEST ARTISTS. Afterwards, we drove over to Bessemer for lunch @ THE BRIGHT STAR. Lee picked up the tab & Archie was an excellent driver on the backroads heading back to Tuscaloosa. What a great day!

- Gregory Spies Hamilton , as you well know, was one of the founders of the Iberville Historical Society who helped bring about the aquisition o fthe small piece of land that preserves the Ellicott Stone. It seems like Mr. Glick also produced a book of drawings on the History of the Mobile Bay Region.
