So here's a montage of Tippy, Wyker and then a group shot of Wexler, Wyker, Duke & somebody else. http://myspace.com/tippyarmstrong
Wow.
Great, Robert.
By the way, that's Tommy Talton with Mike Duke, John Wyker and the late ultra hip Mr. Wexler. Thanks for the pic. I'll add it to the collection.

I remember playing that show and also remember we played some other auditorium in B'ham with the Newbeats. And yet another one with Lou Christie.
I will put my thinking bucket on (ref. Gomer on the Andy Griffith Show) and see what I can recall about any of it.

Now you cats are gonna have to tell us about what it was like to perform at the Birmingham City Auditorium on the evening of
November 27, 1965-The lineup included The Dave Clark 5, Ian Whitcomb, Ronnie Dove, Billy Joe Royal, Donna Loren, The Barbarians, The Bill Black Combo, and a new southern group called The James Gang
or the VOK Show at The Temple Theatre
Dec 10, 1966. One of the few shows held outside the Birmingham Municipal Auditorium. This one was held at the Temple Theatre. The line up included The Byrds, Roy Orbison, Sam The Sham & The Pharoahs, Sandy Posey, David Houston, The McCoys, ? & The Mysterians, Billy Joe Royal, The Rubber Band, The Newbeats, and The Webs.
Something I was gonna tell y'all but I forgot it. I made a mental note but I moved my head like that & sloshed it around & washed it off the wall.
I can think of everything I did 40 years ago but now I can't tell you when I got up or what I had for lunch.
Best,
RR

I'll contact Bobby Dupree. Thank you for that. Also, wondering if you have a current email addy for Greg Hughey. He sent a couple of very obscure MP3's of Tippy singing some originals. Is he related to John Hughey? Same person? Thanks,
Rick

HEY Y'ALL:
You have no idea how wonderful it was to copy & paste the new stuff destined for http://myspace.com/tippyarmstrong
& post it at ROCK PILGRIMAGE!!!!
http://rockpilgrimage.blogspot.com
IMAGINE THIS!
We could put a myspace site up for each & every one of those dead cats listed at the top of ROCK PILGRIMAGE! Same thing goes for the gahzillion customers of the CHUKKER http://www.thechukker.com/
who, unfortunately, are no longer with us. Like Rick Hirsch said, myspace.com is the perfect medium for a memorial page.
It allows the page to grow.
The BAMA QUEEN from Dothan http://www.myspace.com/fiddledeedeeme

& last but not least I am gonna write out my recipe for Oyster Robertoregafeller.
OYSTERS ROBERTOREGAFELLER
Shuck a bunch of oysters and put 'em in a bowl inside a larger bowl filled with ice.
Take the big shells that lay flat and wash 'em good.
But a piece of rilly superb homemade butter in each shell.
Fill the shells with oysters. Two, three, however many the shell can take.
Sprinkle some Paul Prudhome Seafood Magic or Blackened Redfish Magic on the oysters along with some black pepper, lemon juice and little Tabasco.
Put a little gob of what I call "Gulf Coast Pesto" on top of each shell. You make this however you want but the best way is to put spinach, artichoke hearts, celery, mustard greens [whatever you want!] thru a food processor.
Crumble up some microwaved bacon on each shell and sprinkle 'em with Parmesan.
Dredge all of the shells with the crumbs from crushed garlic butter croutons. {homemade is the best}
If ya got extra $, stick a little crab meat on 'em, slice off some good cheese to put on top of em
& stick 'em on the grill!
Best,
RR http://snakedoctor.blogspot.com
