Got this image off of an incredible Library of Congress site filled with images of 1861. William Waud drew these Charleston slaves mounting a cannon in Ft. Sumter in March of 1861. I'm sure the slaves were rented from the citizens of Charleston by the Federal government. This was before the Yankees KNEW that "THE REASON FOR THE WAR" was TO FREE THE SLAVES.

oh depression
got you guessing about the thing that you do

don't you let it
you can bet it
she'll make a fool outa you

when confusion keeps ya loosin'
and you're searchin' for a find

turn this madness
into gladness
keep these words in your mind

everything
that you do
will come back to you

eyes wide open
see the motion
of the problems that go down

you can't stop em
better drop em
don't let em turn you around

when you hear
that voice inside
why don't you let it be your guide

don't you know
you just can't go
wrapped up in your foolish pride

The memory card on the camera is full & I don't know how to erase it. I'll send ya some more images of THE OFFICE tomorrow.

To me, this is the most disturbing image from yesterday. These are the casings from the worms that live on the bottom of the Gulf. Why are they swept up on the beach?

  • Robert Register Maybe they're in there so strong because of all the bird poop in the water. I mean you don't even want to pick up a shell on Land's End of Pelican/ Sand Island( in Dauphin Island Partlow speech). Dat place be FUNKY! You could use that sand on cotton instead of GWEWANNER!

As you can see from the droppings & feathers, there's no shortage of cormorants, gull & pelicans @ LAND'S END of PELICAN ISLAND. You could go down there during the calm of the day when there are no birds & set up a blind & get INCREDIBLE SHOTS. As soon as the wind picks up, this section of beach is covered with hundreds of sea birds of all species. This is where they cool out during the windy part of the day.

Sonya Register Land So... there can be beauty found in a plastic bag laying on the beach....it's all in the way we look at it. It can be done. Well done, Robert!

You can see from the bird tracks, feathers & feces that's there mo' pelicans on LAND'S END @ PELICAN ISLAND than this un. Guess BP sprays 'em orange fo' some reason & leaves 'em there to decay with the rest of the garbage they ignore.

Pelican Island (you can see Ft. Gaines to the right in this image on the east end of Dauphin Island)
"Man, it were Sunday & it were our lunch break. We hadzzz to getzzz up before the crack of dawn in Prichard & meet the bus @ The Sacred Star of Bethlehem Church of God in Christ. What chew 'spect us to accomplish on a Sunday morning. Man, that the Sabbath Day!"

  • Robert Register Unfortunately, I messed up on that church's name. It was THE SACRED TWILIGHT STAR OF BETHLEHEM CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST & WEEPING MARY of KUSHLA.

"...war came at Fort Sumter only because the Confederates were neither subtle enough nor strong enough to begin it at Fort Pickens" ~ Grady McWhiney

  • Robert Register We gonna have a little fun with this CIVIL WAR SESQUICENTENNIAL. I plan on posting an important image every day for the next four years & I wanna see some left wing kook or stupid Yankee say something about it.
