HEY Y'ALL:
Whoa! 'Bout tuh bust somethin'!!!!
As I write this four fire engines (Tuscaloosa Ladder Truck #1 is parked by the curb on University Boulevard right in front of me blocking my truck as I type this. The mimosa leaves are superimposed on the wall behind me by the flashing lights of the ammalances & fire engines.)
We got the Fire Rescue Ammalance.
We got the NorthStar Ammalance.
We got the Fire Chief's SUV!
We got about 15 firefighters neck do' wid about five with SCUBA tanks fetchin'
purses out of the ruins of the new beauty spa that went in neck do' this month.
[Private Suites & Booths Available forLicensed CosmetologistEstetitianMassage Therapist Nail Technician]Kinda bad for the hair care industee in Tuskeeloosee
'cause two barbers got in a shooting match on University Boulevard a couple of blocks from
here Friday
& one uv them be stone cold dead rite now.
We got about 30 spectators on the sidewalk right in front of our store
right in front of
Tuscaloosa Fire Dept. Ladder Truck #1
crying like it's a funeral.
It beeeeeeeeeeeze happenin'
at Pake Realty.
We gotta rival real estate agent on the sidewalk in front of our store
begging his tenants not to kill him.
He looks like he's about to have a heart attack.
Alwayzzzzzzzzzzzzz
FUN in Tuskeeeeloooooozeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Muchas to Maggie fo' sending me the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band CD.
http://www.nittygritty.com/Those cats were absolute magic
on Woods Quad on something like April 17, 1973.
They performed at a FREE
concert on the BAMA campus
along with The Atlanta Rhythm Section
http://www.atlantarhythmsection.com/& The Marshall Tucker Band.
http://www.marshalltucker.com/I hope I find those pictures. I got backstage with the Rhythm Section
but my collection of photos is a burning challenge rite now
due to my "female promblem".
In the paper yesterday Mark Hughes Cobb wrote an article about a reader's poll at the Tuscaloosa news which asked readers to name
THE SEVEN WONDERS OF WEST ALABAMA.I showed the article to my son Christopher & he was rilly impressed that
#3
was Hurricane Creek.
Christopher lives on the banks of LITTLE HURRICANE CREEK &
all he has to do is walk over an unoccupied hill and he's on HURRICANE CREEK.
Well, I think Christopher said it rite when he said,
" A RESTAURANT!
A RESTAURANT IS ONE OF THE SEVEN WONDERS OF WEST ALABAMA!
MAYBE ARCHIBALD'S!!!!
but not Dreamland."
DREAMLAND
were #6
#1 wuz MOUNDVILLE http://moundville.ua.edu/home.html
Christopher wasn't fo' sho' about Kentuck either
& neither wuz I
but we both agreed we needed to go see the Warner Art Collection.http://www.warnermuseum.org/
Ain't that something?!!!!
A couple of hard-tails like us, a father & son,
who believe that a strong back is a terrible thing to waste
are looking forward to going to an art museum.
It be that wayzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
SOMETIME!!!!
I know this.
After hearing about Christopher's parties from the word on the skreet &
knowing that he'll be near the front of the stage when ZZ Top
plays Verizon tomorrow nite,
I see why he makes fun of me.
Compared to that boy,
I truly am a Bill Farmer Combo Old Fogie!

Robert
First off loved the bird & dog blogs
that transcends US geography, believe me.
The mis-spelling of my last name has always been a thoirn in my side.
When mail is addressed to me that way (assuming it's NOT a check) I throw it out w/o opening it.
If they can't spell with it - then the hell with it.
No K; no play

CONCERNING JUSTO'S DOTHAN PEDIGREE:
RR....
I met Rodney in
Clearwater, Fla when he was the lead singer of the Mystics and just out of high school.
Paul Cochran was his manager and my business partner.
After Rodney joined the Candymen and later
ARS, he joined Beaverteeth.
Dothan was home base for the group and Rodney spent a considerable amount of time there.
He took Bobby Goldsboro's place in Dothan. For those and more reasons he earned a
Dothan pedigree.
Rock on......
BB
Debbie Ingram did a superb job on TALES FROM THE JAMES GANG
which is the lead article in the current issue of DOTHAN MAGAZINE
http://dothanmagazine.com/Unfortunately, a misunderstanding occurred in the writing of the article
& Buddy Buie got tapped in a DOTHAN MAGAZINE article
as the composer
RIGHT STRING BABY but THE WRONG YO-YO
Unfortunately, that led to a storm of emails from the LONG LOST fans
of PIANO RED PERRYMAN
Well here's some response:
PIANO RED PERRYMAN
used to play the Dothan Country Club and I used to sneak in there and stand by his piano and listen to him when I was a kid.
I heard the Yo Yo song years before our group, the James Gang, was ever formed.
I heard it before Wilbur Jr. ever did.
I watched PIANO RED play at Underground Atlanta in the late sixties.
I know who wrote the song.
Buddy knows who wrote the song.
Why would he ask me if I knew what the words meant if he were the writer???????????
Youth is a snotty little possession.
I know, because I possessed it that way.
During our day, hearing about the Bill Farmer Combo was goofy, funny, old-fashioned, laughable.
They were old, we were young.
Well, here I am where they were.
Our old pahdnuh, Robin Rainer of DOTHAN MAGAZINE
does it for the same thing we do it fo':
IT A LABOR UV LUV, BRO' MAN!!!
