At our class reunion I asked one of our male classmates what he thought got Wilbur hooked and he said, "The man just can't stand pain." I'll never forget that. But I will tell you, he took care of his mom in her last years. He has a good heart. His old sweetheart (they were together all through High School) was there that night and we tried so hard to get her to go up and say hello. She just could not do it. These guys, Wilbur, Goldsboro, John Rainey were all the rage when we were growin up. So much talent. And Buie, what a talent. He graduated with us, too, as well as Goldsboro.
